Quoted before we touch it. Fixed without leaving Ontario.
Sizing, retipping, solder, stone tightening, restringing, batteries and crystals — done at our own bench on S Oregon St. You get the price and the method in writing first, and most work is back in three to five days.
Most stores in eastern Oregon mail your repair to a wholesaler three states away, which is why their quotes are vague and their timelines slip. We keep a working jeweler in the building every day we are open.

Honestly
The few things we send out, and why.
Standard repair, sizing, engraving and appraisal work all stay in this building. Two things do not: full mechanical watch overhauls, which belong with a watchmaker who does nothing else, and laser welding on certain antique or heat-sensitive pieces.
When that happens we tell you before you leave the counter, we tell you who is doing it, and we quote it the same way — in writing, up front. If we cannot do a job well ourselves, we would rather say so than learn on your grandmother’s ring.
It depends on metal, stones and condition, so we look at the piece with you and give you the price and the method in writing before a single tool touches it. If a repair is not worth doing, we will tell you that too.
Standard repair, sizing, engraving and appraisal work all stay in the building. The rare exception is a full mechanical watch overhaul, and we tell you before you leave the counter.
Most repairs are back in three to five days. Batteries, band sizing and engraving are often same day. The list above gives typical timing for each job.
