Custom design

Bring a photo, a family stone, or a napkin sketch.

We draw it, price it honestly, and build the piece here in Ontario — cast, set and hand-finished at our own bench. Nothing goes into metal until you have seen the drawing and agreed the number.

How a custom piece happens

Four steps, and you approve every one.

Custom work has a reputation for vague prices and moving deadlines. Ours does not: you see a drawing and a written number before we start, and the piece is made in the same building where you were quoted.

01

Tell us what you have in mind

A photograph, a ring you already own, a stone inherited from your grandmother, or a rough idea on the back of an envelope. We talk it through at the counter and look at what you have brought with you under the loupe.

02

We draw it and quote it

You get a drawing — hand-sketched or CAD, whichever suits the piece — along with a written price and a timeline before anything is committed. If your budget and the design do not meet, we tell you then, not halfway through.

Cast, set and built here

The metal is cast and the stones are set at our bench on S Oregon St. Your stones stay in the building for the whole job — nothing is posted to a trade shop three states away and hoped for.

What we make

Most of it starts with something you already own.

Heirloom restyling

Reset your grandmother’s diamond into something you will actually wear, using the original stone.

Engagement rings

Solitaires, halos, three-stone and hidden-halo settings built to your specification.

Matched wedding bands

Bands shaped to sit flush against an existing ring, including awkward or antique profiles.

Anniversary and eternity

Bands marking a date, in diamonds or colored stones, sized to be worn every day.

Remounts and rebuilds

A worn shank or a tired setting rebuilt around stones that are still perfectly good.

One-off pieces

Pendants, signet rings, cufflinks and gifts that do not exist anywhere else.

Before you commit

Straight answers about custom work

It depends entirely on metal, stones and complexity, which is why we quote in writing after the drawing rather than guessing at the counter. If the design and the budget do not meet, we say so before you have spent anything.

Three to six weeks for most pieces. Rush work is sometimes possible — ask, and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done properly in the time you have.

Yes, and it is the job we do most. We check the stone under the loupe first for chips or wear, tell you what we find, and design the setting around what the stone can safely take.

No. Nothing is cast until you approve both the drawing and the price. If it is not right, we redraw it.

No. Casting, setting and finishing all happen at our bench on S Oregon St. Your stones stay in Ontario for the whole job.

Sizing is included, and any follow-up adjustment in the first thirty days is free.

Bring the idea in. We will tell you what it takes.

Consultations are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Walk in during store hours, or book a time so the bench and the loupe are free when you arrive.
